World Food India Roadshow Generates Huge Interest among….

    Lucknow, May 25, 2017: The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) marked the beginning of its global food processing event – the World Food India with its first roadshow today in Lucknow. The roadshow saw, Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath addressing the business community of the state. The key agenda of the roadshow was to seek their active participation at the World Food India 2017, to be held in New Delhi from 3rd to 5thNovember 2017.

    Speaking at the roadshow and highlighting the growth prospects in Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh said, “Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is organising a Mega International Event “World Food India 2017” from 3-5 November 2017 at New Delhi. Its aim is to showcase investment opportunities in India with a view to attract foreign investments and enhance India’s Food Processing Sector to a global level. We are proud to host the inaugural roadshow of this key initiative in Uttar Pradesh and are committed towards supporting the main event – the “World Food India 2017.  Development of Food processing industry in UP will help enhance the income of farmers.  We are keen to develop 4 Mega Food Parks in UP.   The Government of UP is coming out with a new industrial policy with a provision of single window clearance to facilitate investments”.

    “The Government of India has increased the allocation to the food processing sector in UP from INR 500 crore to INR 800 crore for the benefit of SME industry in the food sector. Our focus is to create a conducive business environment and provide all the needed support for the industry. With this priority, union ministry recently launched SAMPADA scheme which provides incentives to industry from INR.1.5 crore to INR 5 crore.” said, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State, MoFPI.  She invited the Government of Uttar Pradesh to be a key partner state for the World Food India Event 2017.

    “Uttar Pradesh offers huge potential for the food processing sector to flourish with easy availability of raw produce, untapped human resource and low production cost, making it an attractive destination.” She further added.

    Speaking at the roadshow, Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, said “Food Processing Industry Development will help reduce poverty of farmers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. We invite various organisations to come and work together in favourable environment conditions of the state. Uttar Pradesh is full of opportunities in the food processing sector and we welcome investors for development of the state and contribute to the economy of our country.  We will provide all necessary support required for establishment of the required projects in the state. If required, we will also support marketing of various business initiatives in the state.”

    Mr. Satish Mahana, Industrial Development Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said “We will be working towards ease of doing business in the state of Uttar Pradesh and will implement procedures and policies which will enhance the investment opportunity in the state and will benefit  all the relevant stakeholders. Uttar Pradesh has huge potential for investments in food processing sector and we will provide necessary environment for all investors to establish their project in the state.”

    Besides Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath,  the State Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya; Mr. Avinash Kumar Srivastava, Secretary, MoFPI; Mr. Satish Mahana, Industrial Development Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh addressed with the business leaders at the event.  Siraj Chaudhary, Chairman, Cargill India and many other business leaders too attended the event.

    Addressing the industry leaders, Mr. Avinash Kumar Srivastava, Secretary, MoFPI, said “Strengthening the vision of ‘Make in India’, World Food India will provide a platform for domestic and the global players to explore the partnership and expand their business in the country. The food processing industry has vast untapped potential and the central government is keen to build up the industry. In a step to benefit the industry, the central government has recently launched SAMPADA scheme which will provide a big boost to the growth of food processing sector in the country. Food Processing Industry contributes only 1.6% to the GDP of our country. We are working towards increasing these GDP share to almost equivalent of countries like Brazil, China etc. at rate of 10%.”

    Participating at the Lucknow roadshow, Siraj Chaudhary, Chairman Cargill India said, “World Food India is a great initiative by the ministry to help businesses expand their horizons by bringing global and Indian leaders across the food value chain on one platform. It will provide multiple opportunities for the players to amplify their growth internationally and make India a global food factory.”
