Sweet revolution: Amul launches Honey

    New Delhi, October 02, 2021: Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) which markets milk and milk products under brand of “Amul” is India’s largest food product organization has introduce “Honey” in the market.

    Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, GoI, Shri Parshottam Rupala, Hon’ble Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GoI, Shri Kailash Chaudhary, Hon’ble MoS for Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare, GoI and Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble MoS for Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare has virtually launched the “Amul Honey” from New Delhi.

    On this occasion, Shri Shamalbhai B Patel, Chairman, GCMMF, Shri Valamjibhai Humbal, Vice Chairman, GCMMF, Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Chairman, Banaskantha milk union, Banas Dairy, Palanpur alongwith Board of Directors of Banaskantha milk union and Dr. R S Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF attended the meeting. Apart from this, senior officials from department of Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare & Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, National Bee Board and National Beekeeping and Honey mission attended the meeting.

    During this virtual launch meeting Shri Narendra Singh Tomar hailed the good efforts of Amul to take forward the dreams of Sweet revolution of Honourable Prime Minister. It will help small and marginal farmers to improve their income substantially.

    On the occasion, Shri Parshottam Rupala mentioned that Amul has once again brought a   product that passed stringent quality tests abroad. Taste of India has become sweeter now.

    Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary mentioned that the framers of Banas Dairy Cooperative worked hard to help realise the dreams of Honourable Prime Minister. He also urged the Government of India to make available honey testing labs of international standard in the district of Banaskantha, Gujarat.

    Dr. Sodhi mentioned that the call for sweet revolution by the Hon’ble Prime Minister is being achieved by Amul by using the existing large milk network for honey procurement, packing and marketing.  Amul has launched mono flora (single flower source) honey in four variants viz.; Mustard, Saunf, Til and Ajwain which is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) tested. Madhu Kranti will be achieved through the active support of the Government of India and National Bee Board with an aim to increase the income of farmers.
