New Delhi, March 31, 2021: As the plant-based market continues to grow, Walmart has made the decision to jump aboard the bandwagon by launching its own line of dairy-free cheeses—Great Value Plant-Based Cheese. These non-dairy shred blends are available in mozzarella, cheddar and combined cheddar-mozzarella flavors.
In a 2020 article, Transparency Market Research published a study predicting that the global vegan cheese market could reach $2.5 billion before the beginning of 2021. But some believe this is more likely to reach $7 billion by the year 2030.
According to VegNews, the retailer also recently launched vegan chicken options under its Great Value brand, including Chik’n Tenders and Chik’n Patties, along with veggie burger patties in Chipotle Black Bean and Original flavors according to the reports published in dairyherd.com.
While it’s unclear who’s producing this product for the retail giant, it’s clear Walmart is embracing the plant-based trend.
