New Delhi, September 15, 2024: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday hinted at a possible hike in Nandini milk prices in the state, stating that a decision would be made soon.

The price of milk was previously increased in June when the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) raised it by Rs 2 per litre, along with an additional 50 ml of milk in every pack.

Addressing a rally in Ramanagara, Siddaramaiah said, “If you stand by us, we will increase the price of milk. Let the entire state discuss it. The full amount from the price increase will go directly to the farmers. I will call a meeting with KMF, and then we will make a decision. We stand with the milk producers, farmers, Dalits, and minorities.”

Defending the move, the Chief Minister explained that the price hike was proportionate to the increased volume of milk in each packet according to the reports published in indiatoday.in.

“The price has been increased by Rs 2 per litre, but consumers will also receive an additional 50 ml in every 500 ml and 1,000 ml packet,” Siddaramaiah said earlier. He also explained that the decision by KMF aims to ensure that farmers’ surplus milk production is not rejected at collection centres.

Before the increase in June, the KMF had increased the price of Nandini milk in July 2023.
