New Delhi, December 18, 2024: Amirthaa Dairy, founded in 1984 by R. Mohanasundaram with a modest capital of Rs. 750, began as a cycle vendor. Today, it stands as one of the leading dairies in Tamil Nadu. The company operates a well-programmed plant that adheres to strict sanitary standards and handles a large volume of milk. Notably, Amirthaa Dairy was the first in Tamil Nadu to introduce full-cream milk specifically for tea shops, enhancing its reputation.

The company’s product range includes milk, curd, paneer, butter, ghee, dairy whitener, and flavored milk. To uphold the “Promise of Freshness,” Amirthaa Dairy ensures minimal time between milk collection and delivery to clients, preserving the cold chain. They maintain stringent quality control at five levels during production to ensure top quality.

Amirthaa Dairy operates a fully automated PLC-controlled plant (SCADA System) with a daily capacity of 5 lakh liters of milk. The company employs advanced technologies from milk procurement to distribution. Milk analysers at collection points at the village level ensure fair payment to farmers by assessing milk solids. These data are collected in real-time for processing.

Amirthaa Dairy pays farmers directly into their bank accounts without fail throughout the seven-day billing period. Milk collected from village centers is transported in 40-litre cans to chilling centers, where it is immediately chilled to 4°C and then transported to the main dairy. Upon arrival, the milk is further evaluated to ensure quality before processing according to the production schedule. The SCADA system monitors all stages.

Finished products, such as chilled milk, buttermilk, curd, paneer, butter, and khova, are stored in cold rooms. Long-life products, including skimmed milk powder, dairy whitener, flavored milk, and ghee, are stored ambiently. Orders are processed through the company’s CRM portal, integrated with ERP software. Chilled products are delivered via insulated reefer vehicles across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The company also has a presence in Orissa and West Bengal, owing to the excellent shelf life of its products.

Amirthaa Dairy has received recognition for its implementation of the NABARD Milk Output Subsidy Scheme. In 2008, it was honored with the title of “Best Entrepreneur of Erode District in the MSME Group.” The company holds multiple accreditations, including FSSAI, AGMARK, BIS, and ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 certifications. It currently offers about 10 product variants and plans to introduce five more. Amirthaa Dairy holds a 60 per cent share in the commercial market and 40 per cent in the domestic market, with a long-term goal of reaching 80-90 per cent in the domestic sector.

Dhayalan Mohanasundaram has seen the business grow from its early stages. Under his leadership, Amirthaa Dairy has achieved an annual revenue of 485 crores, with a target of 1000 crores by 2028. Since joining the business in 2011, Dhayalan has driven innovation and implemented effective business strategies. Today, under Dhayalan’s leadership, Amirthaa Dairy partners with 15,000 farmers, sourcing approximately 2.5 lakh liters of milk daily through 12 chilling centers and 1500+ collection centers. The collected milk is processed by 700 skilled staff members at the main plant. Finished products are distributed via refrigerated vehicles to 450 dealers and 15,000+ retailers across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and other regions.
