New Delhi, June 17, 2025: From 2022, an ice cream manufacturing plant had been functioning with a capacity of manufacturing 6,000 litres of ice cream a day and it had been supplied to Salem and nearby districts. There were 224 Aavin parlours in operation in educational institutions and in government offices, the Minister added.

Regarding the seminar, Mr. Mano Thangaraj said that on an average, farmers produced six to seven litres of milk a day. If this increased to 10 to 12 litres, it would uplift the livelihood of farmers. For that, experts in this field were explaining modern technologies to increase the milk production, the Minister added.

Later, the Ministers inspected the automated milk processing plant with a capacity of seven lakh litres in Salem, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on June 12 according to the reports published in thehindu.com.

Responding to an allegation made by Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan that Aavin milk standards were not equal to Amul’s, Minister Mano Thangaraj said there were many differences between Amul and Aavin. Amul was functioning like a corporate company. But Aavin was working for the welfare of farmers and milk consumers. Considering the welfare of both, steps were taken to provide procurement prices for farmers consistently and at the same time, Aavin helped prevent milk price hikes.

During the inspection, District Collector R. Brindha Devi and officials participated.
